Yuanyi Garden
Located on Chongming Island, Yuanyi Garden is a 21-hectare smart horticultural destination designed around the life cycle of flowers. Structured around a seedling center, variety displays, and outdoor viewing areas, it integrates scientific research, cultivation, exhibition, educational programs, and leisure tourism.
Inside, visitors can explore a living collection of more than 150 premium flowers sourced globally, ranging from Australia's native Joey (Ptilotus exaltatus) and South African daisies to clonal dahlias, geraniums, and carnations. The garden produces seedlings year-round while simultaneously cultivating potted plants, ensuring that something is in bloom regardless of the season.
Behind the scenes, the garden showcases a suite of sustainable technologies. Automated seedling-bed systems, energy-efficient geothermal pumps, precision irrigation for greenhouse climate control, and integrated rainwater harvesting work together to support its eco-conscious operations.
Outdoors, the garden unfolds as a carefully curated landscape. North of the greenhouse, pathways lead through designed flower beds, themed gardens, dry creek scenes, and rockeries, each turn offering a new botanical composition.
Beyond the flowers, the garden offers a full leisure experience. Guests can stay in its homestay accommodation, dine onsite, and then unwind by Swan Lake. Activities include fishing, archery, camping, seasonal produce picking, and visits to a pet zone featuring friendly animals.
