Legoland Shanghai Resort opened its doors in Shanghai's Jinshan district on July 5, marking a major attraction for the area.
But there's more to Jinshan than Legoland. Just a short drive from the resort, you'll discover gems offering a unique taste of Shanghai's charm. Whether you're in the mood for history, flowers, temples, or tea, here's where to go:

Fengjing Ancient Town scenic area
Fengjing Ancient Town, a national AAAA-rated scenic site, boasts a rich history dating back to the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). Crisscrossed by waterways and lined with architecture from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, it is one of the best-preserved water towns in Shanghai.

Shanghai Blooming Garden
Spanning approximately 87 hectares, this floral paradise features four scenic zones: the Sea of Flowers, Plum Garden, Fragrance Garden, and Autumn Garden, which are home to over 800 varieties of ornamental trees and shrubs.
The park is especially popular with families, offering activities that children will love, such as horse riding, boating, mini-excavator rides, and the colorful rainbow slides.

Donglin Temple
Donglin Temple, originally built in 1308, holds three Guinness World Records: the tallest copper gate (the Thousand Buddha Gate), the tallest cloisonne statue (the Pilgrim Sudhana), and the tallest indoor Bodhisattva (the Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Bodhisattva).
One of the temple's most treasured artifacts is a statue of Bodhisattva, carved from a 1.8-ton block of Hetian jade.

Hufeng Tea Garden
Home to around 800,000 tea trees, Hufeng Tea Garden seamlessly blends eco-farming, science education, and leisure activities.

More than just a factory, Jinshan Silk Carpet Factory is the creative home of the Shanghai Meihua Silk Carpet Studio, founded by master craftsman Cheng Meihua.

All these attractions are located between 1.5 and 13 kilometers from Legoland Shanghai, with most easily accessible by public transportation. If you are planning a visit to Legoland Shanghai, these nearby spots offer a mix of culture, nature, and hands-on fun.

Where to dine
Among the 14 restaurants near the Legoland Shanghai Resort evaluated by the Shanghai Consumer Council, five earned a four-star rating or higher: Nongjia Restaurant - Farmhouse Cuisine, Hong Wei Lou, Ziqi Donglai Chinese Style Cuisine, Guangyuan Hotel, and Small Fennel Traditional Flavor Cuisine.
These establishments were praised for their clean atmosphere, fresh food, and mouthwatering taste. Signature dishes such as braised eel and white-cut chicken at Nongjia Restaurant, and stir-fried river snails with egg white at Guangyuan Hotel, received particular acclaim.
Most venues are within a 10-kilometer radius of the park and are best reached by car, as public transportation options are limited. Restaurants in Fengjing Ancient Town require parking outside the town, followed by a short walk.
Where to stay
Five recommended lodging options include two hotels: Legoland Hotel Shanghai and Shanghai Fengjing Four Points by Sheraton, along with three homestays: Hengshan Yiju - Huayang Zhehu Homestay, Shanghai Sanqiao Bieyuan, and Huazhu - Qingfeng Shiguang Homestay.
These options cater to a variety of needs, from family-friendly experiences to cultural immersion. For instance, the Sheraton hotel provides a free shuttle service to Legoland and hosts stargazing classes for children.
