In 2025, the container throughput of the Shanghai Port exceeded 55.06 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), ranking first in the world for the 16th consecutive year.

The value of Shanghai's foreign trade totaled 4.51 trillion yuan ($640 billion), marking a 5.6 percent year-on-year increase.
