From January to April 2026, Shanghai's general public budget revenue totaled 361.53 billion yuan ($50.3 billion), an increase of 2.9 percent year-on-year.

II. General public budget expenditure

From January to April 2026, Shanghai's general public budget expenditure totaled 368.03 billion yuan, completing 35.7 percent of the annual budget. Priority support was given to key areas including science and technology, agriculture, forestry and water resources, and development of urban and rural communities, with overall budget execution remaining sound.
