Two shopping centers add fresh energy to Pudong life
Shanghai's Pudong New Area is buzzing with fresh energy thanks to two shopping destinations that opened in late 2024. New Bund Red Lane and 96 Plaza have quickly found their place in the city's commercial landscape, offering residents and visitors spaces where shopping, leisure, culture, and community converge.
New Bund Red Lane
Opened in September 2024, New Bund Red Lane has become a favorite spot for those looking to slow down and enjoy the moment. Its semi-outdoor, open-roof design links the Jingyao Qiantan shopping area with the nearby riverside park, blending the city with nature.
Carrying the playful theme "aimlessness is the only aim", the space encourages visitors to discover surprises along the way. From shopping and dining to cultural pop-ups, its wide range of experiences has brought new vitality to the neighborhood.
The center has also embraced Shanghai's "debut economy", welcoming Pet Fan's first Shanghai branch, Dutch bicycle brand Bijen's first China store, and the country's first outlet of coffee label Aokka.
Regular events add to the lively atmosphere. A highlight was the bread lifestyle festival "Everything Croissant", which brought together more than 70 bakeries and snack brands. Combined with art installations and seasonal activities, these events have turned New Bund Red Lane into a place where shopping and community life come together naturally.

96 Plaza
Meanwhile, 96 Plaza has taken on a different role, blending shopping with a strong sense of community. Its standout feature is Woof Park, where dog owners can guide their pets through obstacle courses, try scent-training, or make DIY toys together.
The mall is thoroughly pet-friendly, with elevators, strollers, shops, and an outdoor plaza designed for four-legged visitors. Over time, it has grown into a gathering place for more than 300 pet owners who return regularly for activities and social events.
Yet 96 Plaza isn't only about pets. Drawing on its location near Chuansha Ancient Town, the center has also staged Huju Opera performances and wellness fairs, where visitors could craft herbal sachets, join meditation exercises, or receive complimentary health checkups.
