German students join Chinese study program in Shanghai
Tongji University and the Confucius Institute at Hannover Leibniz University in Germany jointly organized a two-week 2025 summer Chinese study program in Shanghai, offering students first-hand experiences of Chinese culture.
At the closing ceremony on Aug 27, students reflected on their cultural journey through three key themes.
Travel impressions: Students were invited to use a single word to describe their experiences in Shanghai and their Chinese learning journey.
Memorable experiences: They shared reflections on the city's iconic landmarks, along with other historical sites and local cuisine.
Language learning: The students' improvements in Chinese proficiency were highlighted. During a lively interactive session, students learned popular words, their meanings, and daily usage.
The event also featured a personal presentation where students shared stories and insights gained during the program. They composed and performed songs to express their appreciation for the experience and their enthusiasm for exploring Chinese culture.
Through immersive studying, participants enhanced their language skills and gained a deeper understanding of China's traditional heritage.
Arina Kulikova said that this summer camp fulfilled her long-held dream of visiting China. She enjoyed communicating, sharing stories, and telling jokes with residents. She also visited landmarks such as the Shanghai Tower, the Bund, the Shanghai Museum, and Nanjing Road. Trips to Suzhou in Jiangsu province and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province contributed to a fulfilling experience.
For Dayanera Alipour, the program was a special experience. Drawn by interest in China, she began learning Chinese six years ago, while her curiosity about Chinese culture began nine years ago. Eager to communicate smoothly with native speakers, she watched Chinese TV dramas and deepened her affection for Chinese culture, from history and mythology to cuisine.
