Shanghai unveils 12 new gifts

Shanghai unveiled 12 new gifts on Sept 23 at the city's gifts design competition during the 35th Shanghai Tourism Festival, each carrying the city's historical and cultural memories while showcasing a blend of classical and modern artistic elements.

The Saga City of Light, built by the French company Puy du Fou, aims to recreate authentic historical scenes, allowing visitors to experience a feeling of time travel. The Saga City of Light gifts - character figurine blind boxes and retro fridge magnets - released at the event incorporate Shanghai's cultural charm.

Prosperous Shanghai, a gift consisting of 8-gram silver bars co-produced by Shanghai Gold Company and Shanghai Mint, features a design of street signs from old Shanghai, encapsulating the city's unique cultural characteristics. These products combine the collectible value of precious metals with trendy and artistic designs, offering both gifting and collection value.

The Shenxiang ginseng gift boxes feature selected Canadian ginseng, with each slice meticulously chosen. The packaging design reflects Shanghai-style culture, blending eco-friendly materials with traditional Chinese aesthetics, demonstrating both the city's health philosophies and cultural refinement.

This fragrant gift set, produced by Shanghai Advertising, incorporates fragrance with packaging that features the Shikumen style, showcasing the beauty of East-West fusion. The packaging reveals the theme "Shanghai Qipao in vogue". Inside, there are qipao-shaped aroma stones and a scent diffuser.

The Shanghai Stories series, co-produced by Shanghai Xinhua Media, Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House, and Tongji University Press, includes three books deeply connected to the city: The Moment at the Corner: Stories of Shanghai, Sea — Art in the World's Reception Room, and Jiangnan from A Cultural Relics Perspective: Ancient Towns of Shanghai, giving travelers a deeper insight into the city's cultural allure.

This art souvenir, a collaboration between Shanghai Natural History Museum and Shanghai Kaikai Department Store, features scarves and scarf clips inspired by Shanghai-style culture and the mythical world of Shan Hai Jing (The Classic of Mountains and Seas), an ancient work of Chinese literature.

During the event, Museum of Art Pudong released atmosphere lamps and 3D fridge magnets that depict its signature mirrored hall and other architectural spaces, along with the iconic Lujiazui skyline, combining modern and historical landscapes.

This whisky glass, produced by Shanghai Jiushi, draws inspiration from the classic architecture at Bund 16, with intricate, handcrafted details reflecting the artistic elements of the building.

This gold bracelet, named Guan Zhao, symbolizes the historical connection between Dunhuang as an important stop on the ancient Silk Road and Shanghai as a modern gateway for foreign visitors.

This Tibetan knife cutlery set, co-released by Shanghai's 10th batch of aid workers to the Xizang autonomous region and the Shanghai Museum, blends traditional Tibetan craftsmanship with Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) porcelain patterns.

The white magnolia Shen 6 and Shen 15 series liquor gift boxes, produced by Shanghai Shenjiu, are made from premium grains grown in Moutai town, Guizhou. The bottles feature designs with golden depictions of the white magnolia, Shanghai's city flower, and the city's skyline.

Lastly, these Shanghai-themed tea and wine sets use smooth, elegant Jinshan black pottery, incorporating qipao collar designs into tea sets, and merging Eastern culture's grace with modern vitality in wine sets.
