Oriental Chip Port of Lingang Special Area

Located within the Lingang Special Area of Shanghai Pilot FTZ, the Oriental Chip Port has a strategic plan to utilize the heavy equipment zone as the core hub for integrated circuit industrialization.

With a planned area of around 12 square kilometers, the port focuses on areas such as distinctive processes, key equipment, basic materials, and packaging & testing. Initiatives are underway for chip design and equipment R&D projects in the main city area and the comprehensive zone of Lingang Special Area.

The port also pioneers a full-process bonded supervision model for imported IC components in the comprehensive bonded zone, encouraging multinational companies to establish offshore R&D and manufacturing centers. Based on the solid foundation of SMIC's joint venture, the academy-industry zone attracts core equipment and key material enterprises for cohesive development.

The Oriental Chip Port aspires to cultivate a world-class IC industry cluster, that starting from the equipment and material industries will evolve into a comprehensive ecosystem encompassing research and development, design, materials, equipment, talents, policies, parks, and industry organizations.
