Established on August 30, 2018, the East China Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Base was the first government-led, civil aviation-supported UAV industry base in China.

The Base covers an area of 2.73 square kilometers and aims to build seven centers for UAVs, including UAV flight services, R&D and manufacturing, exhibition and trading, education and training, science and innovation incubation, airworthiness technology research, and inspection and testing.

Since its establishment, the base has become a characteristic industrial park in Shanghai, one of the pioneering civilian unmanned aviation test zones nationwide, and the core zone of "East China UAV Airport" situated in the Hongqiao International Open Hub.

The base will speed up the establishment of an agglomeration UAV industry, a test area for application scenarios and a debut zone for regulations and standards. It will serve the Yangtze River Delta and the entire country, creating a demonstration area for civil unmanned aviation with global influence.
