In pics: Highlights of the 2023 Shanghai Marathon
The 2023 Shanghai Marathon kicked off at 7 am on Nov 26.
This year's Shanghai Marathon continued to attract runners from around the world, with a record-high 170,000 pre-registrations. Foreign runners made up 12 percent of the participating runners of 38,000.

Philimon Kiptoo Kipchumba from Kenya claimed the men's championship with a time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 35 seconds, breaking the Shanghai Marathon record set eight years prior. He also set the record for best performance of any men's marathon in China.
Siranesh Yirga Dagne from Ethiopia secured the women's title, completing the race in 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 28 seconds.
