Star-studded Rolex Shanghai Masters set to excite fans
The Rolex Shanghai Masters, one of the world's biggest tennis tournaments, has unveiled its lineup, featuring top players such as Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz.
The tournament is one of the nine ATP Masters 1000 events and is the only one not played in Europe or North America.
This year, the Shanghai Masters is set to be held at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena from Sept 30 to Oct 13, according to the Shanghai Administration of Sports.
Last year, the tournament was upgraded to a "Super Masters" which features an expanded singles draw of 96 players. This year, 32 seeded players will receive first-round byes. In addition to international stars, Chinese players Zhang Zhizhen and Shang Juncheng will also feature in the main draw.
One of the most eagerly awaited moments of the tournament will be the appearance of Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer, who is set to grace the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena on Oct 11.
The allure of the Shanghai Masters not only lies in watching the epic battles among established stars, but also in witnessing the growth of emerging talent.
China's Shang Juncheng has earned a direct entry into the main draw of the tournament thanks to his recent stellar performances. At just 19 years old, he has already secured his first victories in matches at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and recently reached the round of 32 at the US Open.
Ticket sales for the event are underway. Tennis enthusiasts are able to purchase tickets through the Juss Sports app, or its WeChat and Alipay mini-programs.
