China extends visa-free transit stays to 240 hours

China has optimized its visa-free transit policy, extending the permitted stay for eligible foreign travelers from 72 and 144 hours to 240 hours (10 days).

Under the updated policy, citizens from 54 countries can enter China visa-free when transiting to a third country or region.

These travelers can now arrive through 60 ports across 24 provinces, regions, and municipalities — an expansion from previous 39 ports in 19 provincial-level regions — and stay within the designated areas for up to 240 hours.

A key adjustment in the new policy is the introduction of cross-province travel, allowing foreign visitors to move freely across the designated areas of 24 provincial-level regions.
