Digital exhibition unveils feast of Chinese aesthetic heritage
The "Jiao Long Chu Hai (Dragon Flying out of Sea)" digital intangible cultural heritage exhibition recently opened on the fourth floor of "The Place" (Hongqiao Nanfengcheng) shopping center in Shanghai's Changning district and runs through June 23.
Visitors can immerse themselves in a millennium of legendary stories and Chinese aesthetic heritage through five major exhibition areas and nine sets of artwork featuring dragons and the Maritime Silk Road.
The exhibition employs technologies such as AIGC, naked-eye 3D, AI motion capture, interactive particle sensing, and 360-degree immersive imaging to express dragon culture, digitally depict dragon stories, and promote the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage through innovative means. Traditional Chinese colors, patterns, calligraphy, and painting elements are integrated to offer a unique visual experience.
In the "Long Teng Si Hai (Dragons Soaring across Seas)" section, nine 3D-printed auspicious dragons adorn the walls, providing a tactile sense of their beauty. By using technological means, this installation aims to convey the spirit of inheritance by allowing visitors to appreciate the beauty of ancient Chinese architecture and dragon culture. Adjacent to this, a digital screen offers visitors the opportunity to view dragon treasures in naked-eye 3D and experience poetry and calligraphy through AI interactions.
The "Wen Long Diao Xin (Dragon Culture, Carving Heart)" section creatively presents intangible heritage works such as ceramics, embroidery, paper cutting, and lantern carving using digital light and shadow technology, allowing visitors to experience the splendor of Chinese culture.
In the "Fei Long Zai Tian (Flying Dragons in the Sky)" section, a combination of blue and white porcelain, filigree enamel, shadow puppets, stunning animations, and music paints a portrayal of the dragon's story.
In the "Long De Chuan Ren (Heirs of the Dragon)" and "You Long Ze Ling (Where There's a Dragon, There's Spirit)" sections, there are workshops for intangible cultural heritage and a stage for young inheritors to showcase their works. Visitors can admire the works of intangible heritage masters and young inheritors, learn their skills, and use artificial AIGC to paint and promote classic Chinese aesthetics and culture.
The Place has long been committed to the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage and hopes to convey its charm to every visitor through this new exhibition, providing a platform for experiencing intangible cultural heritage up close. In the future, the shopping center will continue to launch cultural activities.
