The People's Hospital of Putuo District recently partnered with AI Care Medical Technology Company to establish the area's first smart rehabilitation joint research base. This partnership marks a major move toward developing a trillion-yuan-level ($140-billion-level) smart health industry cluster in the district.

The smart rehabilitation joint research base will be integrated into Putuo's new rehabilitation hospital, which is scheduled to open in early 2026. This represents the first rehabilitation research facility set up within a hospital in the district, focusing on clinical needs, technological innovation, and applying research findings into practical use.

Putuo's smart health initiative is building an integrated R&D, transformation, and application ecosystem. This includes establishing a collaborative platform that connects industry, academia, research, and healthcare sectors to facilitate information sharing and resource integration within the smart health domain. Data indicates that from January to September this year, tax revenue generated by the district's life and health industry increased by more than 14 percent year-on-year.

The exoskeleton arm developed by AI Care Medical Technology Company will be included in the initial set of therapeutic devices at the rehabilitation center. It is designed to help patients recovering from strokes and serious conditions like gastric cancer.

Putuo also promotes partnerships between medical institutions and enterprises, aiming to create a robust ecosystem that integrates research, technology, and healthcare innovations.
