Qingpu New City accelerates high-quality development
In recent years, Shanghai's Qingpu New City has been making significant strides in high-quality development, guided by its vision to become an "attractive, Jiangnan-style, innovation-driven, and welcoming community". Its efforts are concentrated on three main areas: integrating industry with urban living, enhancing functional capabilities, and revitalizing the region.
In 2025, the niche industrial sector driven by the Beidou navigation and the low-altitude economy in the new city was incorporated into the municipal and district-level key industry coordination mechanism. This has accelerated the implementation of emerging application scenarios in the region. Notably, the "ZTO Express Hourly Delivery" low-altitude logistics route has been approved, and several low-altitude economy enterprises, including Meite Xinyao Technology and Shenzhen Smart Drone UAV, have established a presence.
To vigorously advance the construction of a "comprehensive hub", Qingpu has deepened its cooperation with Fudan University to jointly build an innovation center. This initiative links university-level original innovation, proof of concept, and incubation services into an integrated "innovation chain", attracting 20 technology-based enterprises to settle in the new city and accelerating the development of the core headquarters R&D area.
According to corporate HR departments, supportive policies covering talent household registration and children's education make it easier for companies to attract high-end talent.
Qingpu New City has revitalized resources from several commercial office buildings, using a dual "policy + service" approach to promote the coordinated development of advanced manufacturing and modern service sectors.
The first phase of the Zhongshan Hospital Qingpu New City Branch has completed its structural topping-out and is expected to become operational this year. The construction of this hospital campus will significantly enhance the region's medical service capabilities.
The first phase of the Qingpu New City Green Ring, spanning 13 kilometers, has been connected. Construction of the second phase has begun, which will form a 23-kilometer-long green corridor encircling the new city.
In terms of transportation, the main structure of the Qingpu New City Station, a "three-line interchange" hub, is expected to be largely completed within the year. Additionally, the aboveground road on Waiqingsong Highway will soon open to traffic, making connections between the new city and surrounding areas more convenient.
In the core functional area of Qingpu, along the Shangda River ecological vitality corridor, the outline of a "green living room" is gradually taking shape. The Shangda Academy is about to start cultural and commercial operations. The 13.3-hectare space at the confluence of the Shangda River and the Dongdaying Gang (a river), after comprehensive environmental improvement, hosted the first Waterfront Music Festival. Furthermore, planning for the New City South Station area on the demonstration zone line is accelerating, aiming to build a "creative gateway for southern Qingpu and an integrated station-city, livable community".
