The Gabonese Republic lies in west-central Africa and borders the Atlantic Ocean. Gabon is rich in natural resources and is a leading producer of manganese ore, with extensive timber resources.

Since China and Gabon established diplomatic relations in 1974, bilateral cooperation has continued to yield new results. Starting May 1, 2026, China has fully implemented zero-tariff treatment for 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations, including Gabon, creating new opportunities for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Through the CIIE platform, Gabon aims to promote its distinctive products, including wood products and agri-food products, and to strengthen investment and trade ties with China.
