Changning district has released its rules for senior high school admissions in 2025, outlining specific pathways for international students.

International students who participate in the senior high school entrance examination, or zhongkao, will be exempt from the standard admission process of their local peers. Instead, they will be assigned by the district's education bureau to a school based on their scores and preferences.

Four local high schools in Changning can admit international students: Shanghai No 3 Girls' High School, Yan'an High School, Jianqing Experimental School, and Shanghai New Hongqiao High School.

For international students seeking enrollment in secondary vocational schools, an application should be submitted directly to the preferred school. The schools will then submit the candidate list to the district's educational enrollment and examination center, which will handle the enrollment procedure accordingly.
