Shanghai's West Huaihai Road is home to a building with red brick walls and high windows. Originally constructed in 1956 as Shanghai Steel Co Ltd No 10, it is place of nostalgia for generations of people.

The building, which has been revitalized into the ROJO Art & Culture Space, hosts a variety of events, including Asia's only residency show of the Blue Man Group and the Global Graffiti Art Exhibition — the China debut of the Museum of Graffiti from the United States.

The renovation team, while adhering to heritage protection regulations, collaborated with Japanese architect Ryue Nishizawa to achieve a balance between revitalization and preservation.

They maintained the factory's original spatial pattern and structural elements such as the quenching tank, steel roof frame, and reinforced concrete columns.

Inside, the space was optimized for modern use, with transparent elements connecting old and new buildings. Large windows and doors provide natural light and ventilation.
