NYU Shanghai sees record-breaking global applications for 2025 admissions

New York University Shanghai has reached a new record for undergraduate admissions in 2025, attracting nearly 24,000 applications from around the world. This year, the university plans to admit 251 Chinese students and 249 international students.

Established in 2012, NYU Shanghai is the first Sino-American research university in China, created through a partnership between East China Normal University and New York University. It is one of three degree-granting campuses within NYU's global network.

Undergraduate applications to NYU Shanghai have seen steady growth over the past three years, with international applications increasing by 18 percent overall. These applicants come from 157 countries, with about 53 percent hailing from the United States.

NYU Shanghai is currently home to more than 1,800 undergraduate students, evenly split between Chinese and international students. The international students come from nearly 80 countries and regions, making the university one of the most diverse universities in the world.
