Explore Shanghai with new weekend bus routes for students
Shanghai's "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS) platform, Suishenxing, has partnered with transportation companies to pilot the "Student Weekend Cultural Specialty Routes" in Lin-gang Special Area from March 15 to May 18.
This initiative introduces multiple customized routes that connect campuses directly to destinations like Lujiazui, Happy Valley, and museums.
Expanding beyond the student travel services offered during the summer and winter breaks, this service also encompasses weekend and holiday travel routes for students.
What to expect
- Diverse routes: Select from six routes available every Saturday from March 15 to May 18, with additional departures on May 18 for International Museum Day, and a dedicated Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix route.
- Tailored experience: Enjoy comfortable charter buses, dedicated drivers, and direct point-to-point routes.
- Seamless booking: Easily view and book routes by scanning a QR code, and board with a simple scan.
- Affordable pricing: Round trips cost 65 yuan ($8.98), while the F1 specialty route is 60 yuan one-way.

How to sign up
Step 1: Scan the QR code below or log into the Suishenxing platform (or via the "SH MaaS" app or Suishenxing WeChat mini program)

Select "Intercity Express" and enter the "City Customized – Weekend Specialty Line" channel. Reservations close at 8:30 pm every Friday, with free cancellations available before this time.


Step 2: Select your route and departure time
After buying your ticket, follow the prompts to view it. You can also view your ticket at the "Intercity Express" homepage under "My Ticket".

Each route requires a minimum of 25 passengers. If this number is not met, you will receive an SMS notification after 8:30 pm on Friday, and your ticket will be automatically refunded.
Step 3: Confirm your trip
An electronic boarding code is generated 15 minutes before departure. Please ensure you arrive at the shared bus waiting area of Shanghai Ocean University and Shanghai Maritime University at least 15 minutes early to allow enough time for boarding. Upon entry, simply scan the boarding code to check in.
You can board or alight at any stop along the route, allowing for flexible travel arrangements.
Additionally, in collaboration with the Shanghai Tourism Trade Association, the platform offers the "University Students Explore Shanghai Culture and Tourism Package". This package includes access to 38 attractions citywide and two free round-trip rides on customized routes, providing a comprehensive way to explore Shanghai.
