To commemorate the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the five-episode documentary Dispatches from the East will premiere on Aug 29.
Jointly produced by the Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and DocuLife, a subsidiary of Shanghai Media Group, the series tells China's wartime stories through the eyes of foreign correspondents, including Edgar Snow and Agnes Smedley.
Using original English-language sources, including The New York Times, The Guardian, The Oakland Tribune, and Time, the documentary reconstructs how foreign journalists witnessed and documented the courage and sacrifice of the Chinese people on the frontlines.
One episode will be released each day starting Aug 29, with the full series airing on Sept 2 at 10 pm on Dragon TV.
