Shanghai sets 2026 GDP growth target at around 5%

Shanghai has officially announced its GDP growth target for 2026, setting it at around 5 percent. This target is underpinned by the city's stellar performance in 2025: its GDP exceeded 5.67 trillion yuan (about $814.6 billion), inbound tourist arrivals topped 9.36 million, and the combined scale of the three major high-tech industries surpassed 2 trillion yuan.
