This year's festival set a record with over 3,900 film submissions for the Golden Goblet Awards from 119 countries and regions. Twelve films have been nominated for the award in the main competition category, with 11 making their world premieres. These films span a diverse array of genres, including fantasy, suspense, ethics, and dark humor. The lineup features both fresh adaptations of renowned stage plays and bestselling novels, as well as insightful works inspired by real events.
Kyrgyzstan's esteemed director Aktan Arym Kubat presents Black Red Yellow, while acclaimed Chinese director Cao Baoping unveils his latest film, One Wacky Summer. Emerging director Qiu Sheng offers the Sino-French co-produced sci-fi film My Father's Son. Additionally, the German-Swiss co-production You Believe in Angels, Mr. Drowak?, the Polish film Loss of Balance, the German film Luisa, and the Chinese film Wild Nights, Tamed Beasts are all directorial debuts.
Ticket sales start on June 5. Here's what you need to know.
1. When do tickets for the 27th SIFF go on sale?
Shanghai (Screening dates: June 13 to 22):
- Online sales: Begin at 12 pm on June 5.
- Offline sales: Begin at 2 pm on June 5.
Yangtze River Delta region (Screening dates: June 20 to 27):
- Both online and offline sales start at 12 pm on June 6.
2. Where can I buy tickets?
- Damai app (Highly recommended)
- Taopiaopiao app
- Taopiaopiao mini-program (Accessible through Alipay, Taobao, and WeChat)
- Box offices at participating cinemas
People from Nanjing and Suzhou in Jiangsu province, Hangzhou and Ningbo in Zhejiang province, and Hefei in Anhui province can find tickets for local screenings on the homepage of Damai and Taopiaopiao.

3. Where can I find information about the films being screened?
- Check the "Film Exhibition Unit" on the SIFF page in the Damai app and Taopiaopiao platforms.
- Visit the official website (www.siff.com), Weibo, or Xiaohongshu account for film and schedule information.
4. How can I quickly purchase tickets?
Supported only on the Damai app and Taopiaopiao app:
- Before sales: Check the schedule, select your preferred film and cinema, and click the "+" icon to add the film to "My Schedule".
- After sales start: Purchase directly from the schedule or from your added schedule.
5. What happens if I have an unpaid order?
You cannot have multiple unpaid orders. If you attempt to select seats again with an existing unpaid order, the previous order will be automatically canceled, and the seats will be released. You will need to reselect seats.
6. How do I collect my tickets?
After purchasing, go to the cinema where the film is screened and use the dedicated ticket machine for the SIFF to collect your tickets.
Cross-cinema ticket collection is not supported. Check your ticket information in "My Orders – Movies" on the Damai app or "My – Movie Tickets" on the Taopiaopiao app, and use the QR code or ticket code to collect your tickets.
7. Can I enter with an electronic ticket?
All screenings require a valid paper ticket for entry.
8. Are there any restrictions on purchasing tickets for the festival?
- You cannot add snacks or drinks to your order when purchasing tickets.
- A single user can purchase a maximum of four to six tickets per film. Vouchers, exchange tickets, discount cards, and the like are not accepted.
- Users with iOS or Android devices who update the Damai app to version 8.10.12 or above, and the Taopiaopiao app to version 11.16.1 or above can use UnionPay for payment and enjoy discounts.
9. Can I refund or exchange my ticket if I have a schedule conflict?
All tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
10. Will ticket purchases count towards my Taomai VIP membership?
Yes, ticket purchases will count towards your Taomai VIP (jointly launched by Taopiaopiao and Damai) membership progress, and you will earn points.
11. How can I request an invoice?
The invoicing process for festival orders is the same as regular orders. Please contact the cinema where you purchased the tickets for invoicing.
12. Are there children's tickets available?
The festival operates on a one-person, one-ticket policy with assigned seating. No children's tickets are available.
13. Are there any discounts or subsidies for ticket purchases?
Shanghai Pudong Development Bank and UnionPay offer limited "double ticket benefits".
14. Are there any special screening events this year?
The festival will host three marathon screenings at the Shanghai Film Art Center and the Grand Cinema. Additionally, two special events will host jury president Giuseppe Tornatore and director Peter Chan, who will attend and share their insights.
15. Are there any other important notes?
Please do not take photos or record the screen during screenings. Keep your phone on silent or flight mode to avoid disturbing others and help maintain a pleasant viewing environment.
