The 27th Shanghai International Film Festival unveiled its screening schedule on June 3 and is set to start ticket sales at noon on June 5 on two ticketing platforms, Damai and Taopiaopiao.

This marks the first year that SIFF tickets have been sold on Damai.

Ao Xiao, chief technology officer at Damai Entertainment, formerly known as Alibaba Pictures Group, revealed that to ensure a smooth ticketing process for this year's SIFF, internal testing began in early April, with most preliminary preparations completed by the end of April.

Ao added that during stress testing, the tech team prepared for twice the ticket-purchasing peak of last year's festival, reaching a maximum of 20,000 transactions per second.

Furthermore, this year's SIFF has added HarmonyOS compatibility and optimized the interactive experience, making the ticket-purchasing process seamless.

Payment options have been expanded beyond Alipay to include UnionPay, providing users with more convenience in their selection.

Chen Guo, director of the Shanghai International Film and TV Festival Center, noted that last year's SIFF attracted nearly 500,000 attendees, with a significant portion hailing from outside Shanghai. The 27th SIFF is scheduled to take place from June 13 to 22.

This year's festival set a record with over 3,900 film submissions for the Golden Goblet Awards from 119 countries and regions. Twelve films have been nominated for the award in the main competition category, with 11 making their world premieres. These films span a diverse array of genres, including fantasy, suspense, ethics, and dark humor. The lineup features both fresh adaptations of renowned stage plays and bestselling novels, as well as insightful works inspired by real events.
