Shanghai will host a series of major exhibitions this August, featuring books, pets, textiles, and fresh fruit. Here are some highlights.

Pet Fair Asia 2026

When: Aug 19 to 23

Where: Shanghai New International Expo Centre, No 2345 Longyang Road, Pudong New Area

The 28th Pet Fair Asia will span 320,000 square meters and bring together more than 2,600 exhibitors from China and abroad. It is expected to draw more than 530,000 pet lovers.

The fair will feature dedicated zones, including the "premium cat lifestyle" and "ideal home for pets and owners" zones, as well as the N5 Imported Products Pavilion.

Outdoor activities will include a large pool, water games for pets, and summer evening music events for visitors and their furry friends.

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics (Autumn Edition) 2026

When: Aug 25 to 27

Where: National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), No 333 Songze Avenue, Qingpu district

Established in 1995, Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics has grown into one of the world's largest trade fairs for apparel fabrics and accessories.

The exhibition brings together thousands of companies from dozens of countries and regions, showcasing the latest trends in the global textile industry. Exhibits will cover fabrics for formal wear, womenswear, casual wear, sportswear, and denim. Accessories, textile design, and testing services will also be available at the show. The exhibition will span the entire supply chain, from fibers to finished apparel.

China International Fruit Expo 2026

When: Aug 26 to 28

Where: Shanghai New International Expo Centre, No 2345 Longyang Road, Pudong New Area

The China International Fruit Expo is expected to cover more than 23,000 sq m, bringing together nearly 300 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions, along with more than 25,000 professional visitors.

Fresh fruit exhibitors from Chile, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, Ecuador, Thailand, and major fruit-growing regions across China will showcase their products. Leading fruit companies from around the world will also participate.

The event will connect suppliers with buyers from wholesale markets, fruit retail chains, supermarkets, e-commerce companies, restaurants, beverage brands, and other sectors throughout China.

Shanghai Book Fair 2026

When: Aug 12 to 18

Where:

• Shanghai Exhibition Center, No 1000 Middle Yan'an Road, Jing'an district
• Shanghai Book City, No 465 Fuzhou Road, Huangpu district

Launched in 2004, the Shanghai Book Fair is one of the earliest local book fairs in China. This year's event will be held at both the Shanghai Exhibition Center and Shanghai Book City.

In collaboration with MiniMax and AgiBot, the fair will offer AI-powered book recommendations, AI-generated videos based on book content, and robot-assisted reading experiences.

Standard admission tickets will remain at 10 yuan (about $1.48) for daytime entry and 5 yuan for evening entry. Special ticket packages featuring tie-ins with popular exhibitions such as On Top of the World Tree: Ancient Civilizations of the Americas and A House of Nobility: Aesthetics and Cultivation of Life in the Mawangdui Han Tombs, as well as selected cultural and stationery products, will also be available.
