A cycling adventure through Qingpu
The recently concluded Tour of Shanghai: New Cities 2025 cycling race brought athletic excitement to Shanghai's five suburban new towns: Jiading, Songjiang, Qingpu, Fengxian, and Nanpu.
Against a backdrop of crisp blue skies and gentle autumn breezes, this year's event boasted not only a competitive spirit but also natural beauty and cycling-friendly landscapes.
As autumn sets in, offering ideal cycling weather with its cool, refreshing air and brilliant sunshine, it is the perfect time for cycling enthusiasts to discover Qingpu on two wheels.
Below are some routes that promise a mix of natural scenery and invigorating exercise.

Route: Oriental Land → Dianshan Lake Loop → Zhujiajiao Ancient Town
Length: About 30 km
This lakeside path offers broad views. The ride concludes at Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, where you can enjoy local delicacies like zongzi, and soak in the slow life of a water town. Don't miss the Rainbow Bridge — a landmark stretching 1.47 km — especially at sunset when the orange sky blends perfectly with its reflection.

Route: Shangda River → Youdun Port → Dianpu River → Xidaying Port
Length: About 21 km
Experience a blend of wetland scenery and forest trails. The route retains the charm of water towns, with white-walled houses set against pastoral scenery. Multiple rest stations and scenic bridges link attractions like Long Island Park and Nanjing Garden, making it easy to stop and take photos.

Route: Huashen Square → Fanghong Bridge → Yuandang Pedestrian Bridge → Peony Pavilion
Length: About 23 km
As part of the Yangtze River Delta Demonstration Zone for Integrated Green Development, Yuandang Lake riding path crosses elegant footbridges and passes wetlands ideal for birdwatching.

Route: Zhangma Village → Taipu River Conservation Forest → Rentun Village → Lianhua Village
Length: About 24 km
Qingxi Country Park is Shanghai's only countryside wetland park. In autumn, the leaves turn yellow and red, and cycling through plank roads among intertwined water and shadows is a serene experience. The route along Lanlu Port is notably peaceful, with trees, rivers, and occasional boats — a perfect place for quiet reflection, camping, fishing, or a relaxed day out with pets.
