Shanghai Metro stations offer luggage storage services
Shanghai Metro offers self-service luggage storage services to make travel more convenient for residents and international visitors.
The lockers are located in major commercial areas, including East Nanjing Road and Xujiahui, popular tourist destinations such as Shanghai Disney Resort and Yuyuan Garden, and key transport hubs like Shanghai Railway Station and Hongqiao Railway Station.
To better serve overseas visitors, the locker interface supports multiple languages, including English, Japanese, and Korean, with more languages planned. Payment methods have also been expanded to accommodate international users.
How to use the service
Passengers can check locker locations and real-time availability through the official Shanghai Metro app, Metro大都会.

In the app, users can open the Service page, select the "storage cabinet" option, and choose a metro line and station to check locker locations, capacity, and availability.
The lockers are operated by service providers including XiaoIron and Hive Box. Users can access the self-service storage by scanning a QR code with WeChat or Alipay and following the on-screen instructions.

What items are not allowed on the metro?

- Bicycles, inflatable balloons, and animals, except guide dogs and police dogs, are restricted from entering the station.
- Scooters may not be used inside stations.
- Dangerous goods, including flammable, explosive, toxic, harmful, radioactive, and corrosive substances that pose safety risks, are strictly prohibited.
- Items that emit strong odors, as well as fragile or sharp objects that are not properly packaged, are also prohibited because they may pose risks to passengers or property.
Special reminders
- Luggage storage is available only during station operating hours. Passengers should check the station's first and last train times before using the service.
