Carri robots launched their delivery services at the AI Alumni Center in Shanghai's Xuhui district on April 8.

Developed by Xiangqiwuyi, also known as Infermove, an artificial intelligence technology company, the Carri series robots had completed nearly 1,000 takeaway deliveries by mid-May. Delivery times were kept within 30 minutes, with a fulfillment rate hitting 99.7 percent.

Lu Yingxiang, the founder of Infermove, said that China's complex urban layout and huge delivery rider base provide a rich source of training data for embodied intelligent robots.

Building on that success, the company has introduced the Carri Flex robot — a robot with articulated arms allowing it to press buttons, push, pull, grasp, and place objects.

According to Lu, as the number of partner merchants continues to grow and delivery demand rises, the company plans to scale up robot deployment across Shanghai to achieve broader, multi-point, and high-frequency delivery coverage.
