Shanghai releases guidelines on application for high-quality internet content creation projects
Shanghai has released guidelines on the application for the high-quality internet content creation projects, supporting the projects of high-level brand events, high-quality online content creation, and high-quality online content "going global" as outlined in the package of policies unveiled by the city authorities in July to support internet content creators.
The guidelines aim to further promote the development of the high-quality internet content creation industry. Applications are open until Oct 15.
High-level brand events are chosen from those held within high-quality internet content creation hubs, targeting global internet content creators. Emphasis is placed on the event's influence and its leading and guiding significance with consideration about the balance of its social and economic benefits, according to the guidelines.
The projects will receive non-repayable financial support, with up to 30 percent of total investment each covers and a maximum of 2 million yuan ($280,360).
For the online content creation projects, they should be benchmark works that make the story of Shanghai and China heard in a good manner, with an emphasis on both social benefit and communication value, the guidelines indicate.
The projects will be rewarded through incentives, up to a maximum of 100,000 yuan. They will also be prioritized for application for national, municipal, and industry awards.
The projects of online content "going global" should focus on their roles in international communication of Chinese culture and the Shanghai city image promotion and enhance the global reach of Chinese culture and Shanghai's image, the guidelines indicate.
The projects will also receive a maximum reward of 100,000 yuan, along with support related to creative resources, distribution channels, and service guarantees.
The required materials for the application and submission process are detailed in the project application guidelines. Evaluation will be conducted by relevant municipal offices, and funds will be disbursed in a lump sum upon approval.
Project funds must be used as specified, with any changes requiring approval by the Office of the Leading Group of Shanghai Municipality for the Promotion of the Cultural and Creative Industries.
Applicants must ensure the authenticity and completeness of their submissions. Projects with prior funding cancellations or legal violations within the past three years are ineligible. Projects already receiving other municipal funds will not be supported again. The Office of the Leading Group of Shanghai Municipality for the Promotion of the Cultural and Creative Industries has not authorized any third-party agents for applications.
