The Sustainability Forum 2025 themed on "Connect the Globe, Converge Talent, Empower Technology: Building a Sustainable Future Together", is set to be held on Oct 23 in Shanghai's Putuo district. The event will showcase the thriving talent ecosystem in the district and extend an invitation to global talent.

Over the years, the district has been working to expand its talent network through the platform of Shanghai Global Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. This year, the fifth edition of the competition, which was launched in March in three competition zones of Singapore, Qingdao in East China's Shandong province, and Putuo, has attracted 910 innovation projects worldwide across fields like IT, green tech, and AI.

Many local projects in Putuo demonstrate high growth potential. Liu Shanmin, an associate professor at East China Normal University, led a team to develop a "hydrogen atomic clock" for aerospace applications. Liu stood out in the competition in Putuo district, ultimately winning the prize in the finals and being selected for the municipal-level talent program.

The competition platform not only provided funding but also facilitated connections with the Yangtze River Delta National Innovation Center, with efforts underway to secure financing support for his project.

Putuo's talent strategy extends beyond competitions, offering a comprehensive "competition + service + ecosystem" system, including policy incentives such as bonuses, household registration, housing, and offices. It also provides dedicated services via "talent innovation coaching classes".

The district plans to establish a one-stop service center integrating talent services, immigration services, and overseas business services. This holistic service ecosystem makes Putuo a fertile ground for innovation, welcoming both domestic and international talents.
