New vessels set sail with expedited clearance
Two newly constructed vessels, the Grande Istanbul and the Sea Polaris, embarked on their maiden voyages from Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Port on Dec 2, after completing inspection procedures facilitated by the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station of the Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection.
To streamline their departures, the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station implemented a "one ship, one policy". The Sea Polaris, a 158,000-ton Suezmax crude oil tanker, and the Grande Istanbul, a roll-on/roll-off vessel capable of carrying 9,000 vehicles, were able to complete the process efficiently and set sail without delays.
To handle the simultaneous departures, the inspection station formed dedicated teams to provide tailored services, including expedited application processing and vessel inspections, resulting in shorter clearance times and efficient departures.
Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd, the builder of the vessels, has delivered 29 ships totaling 2.7 million deadweight tons since the start of the year, surpassing its annual delivery target.
Since delivering its first vessel in 2003, the company has completed 600 ships and offshore platforms with a combined tonnage exceeding 100 million tons, averaging 27 ships per year.
Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding stands as the only shipbuilder in the world capable of simultaneously building commercial vessels, offshore equipment, and large cruise ships.
