Hongqiao targets role as springboard for local firms going global
Shanghai's Hongqiao International Central Business District has released its 2026 action plan to create a world-class business environment, with the aim of positioning the area as the leading service hub for Yangtze River Delta companies seeking to expand overseas.
The plan outlines four major initiatives and 15 specific measures.
Under these initiatives, the Hongqiao CBD will strengthen the Shanghai CIPA (China International Promotion Association) Going Global Service Platform, which provides full-cycle services for enterprises, including legal and human resources services.
The district will also leverage the influence of the China International Import Expo to drive regional economic development. In parallel, it plans to upgrade talent services to facilitate both the settlement of international professionals and the global reach of local talent.
The Hongqiao CBD spans four districts of Shanghai: South Hongqiao in Minhang district, East Hongqiao in Changning district, West Hongqiao in Qingpu district, and North Hongqiao in Jiading district.
South Hongqiao will add more overseas service stations to provide legal support in key countries and regions, while East Hongqiao will focus on building a headquarters cluster for Chinese firms expanding abroad.
