New Chongqing-Shanghai cruise offers immersive Yangtze River journey
A premium inland cruise route connecting Chongqing and Shanghai, operated by China Yangtze Shipping Group's flagship vessel Yangtze 3, was launched on July 8, marking the first Yangtze River cruise service to call at the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.
The voyage will depart from Chongqing's Chaotianmen port on Oct 30, arrive at the Wusongkou terminal on Nov 8, and set sail for the return journey to Chongqing the following day.
Having launched its maiden voyage in 1979, China Yangtze Shipping Group has extensive experience in hosting domestic and foreign tourists.
The full Chongqing-Shanghai route traverses the upper, middle, and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, linking landmark natural and cultural sites such as the Three Gorges, Jingzhou ancient city, and Yellow Crane Tower, offering a comprehensive immersion in the civilization of the Yangtze River Basin.
Yangtze 3, the brand's new-generation high-end inland cruise ship, combines the strengths of ocean-going cruise liners and river vessels. Equipped with smart eco-friendly facilities and a wide range of luxury suites, the vessel features an innovative all-inclusive fare system and dedicated butler service. It also offers exclusive onboard performances in partnership with the Chongqing Folk Arts Troupe, as well as immersive Yangtze culture workshops.
The Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Baoshan district has posted strong results in international operations this year. The share of foreign tourists has risen from seven percent in 2025 to 13 percent. On March 28, the terminal recorded 5,900 inbound foreign passengers in a single day, setting a new high for Shanghai's cruise ports.
