Shanghai Tourism Festival offers relief from summer heat
The 37th Shanghai Tourism Festival's summer season has begun, featuring 170 cultural and tourism events spread over six weeks. These activities provide residents and visitors with a variety of options to stay cool and enjoy the summer.
Since the start of the summer holiday, the Shanghai L+Snow Indoor Skiing Theme Resort has attracted more than 120,000 visits. Nighttime visits account for over 60 percent of the total. Foreign visitor arrivals at the resort also increased by 35 percent month on month.
Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, Shanghai Happy Valley, and Playa Maya Water Park have all launched water carnivals featuring music festivals, Chinese animation-themed underwater shows, and nighttime fireworks and drone shows.
Meanwhile, the AI-powered travel assistant "Hu Xiaoyou" integrates 36 types of cultural and tourism resources and offers multilingual services throughout the journey, from pre-trip planning and ticket purchasing to on-the-go navigation. It has been accessed close to 20 million times by users.
Shanghai has also rolled out policies to support AI-enabled micro-dramas. Xuhui district is home to nearly 100 AI audiovisual enterprises, and a research team at Shanghai Jiao Tong University has released a new 4D world narrative model to provide technical support for digital cultural and tourism content creation.
