My Little Pony, water fights make a splash at Zhenru Unipark Max
The 2025 Shanghai Summer International Consumption Season is in full swing, with Zhenru Unipark Max, a landmark shopping mall in Putuo district, attracting crowds through a series of immersive, summer-themed activities.
On July 20, the third floor of the mall came alive with a My Little Pony meet-and-greet event hosted at the Meland Club. As the first stop on the toy brand's nationwide tour, the event featured fantasy-themed experiences, such as princess dress-up and magical interactive games. A total of 60 lucky children enjoyed a rare opportunity to take photos with My Little Pony characters, creating unforgettable memories.
Outside, the mall's fountain area hosted the first-ever "Max Splash Party", a family-friendly water fight carnival. Taking place every Saturday and Sunday evening through Aug 31, the event invites children to cool off with water gun battles and treasure hunts.
Admission is just 9.9 yuan ($1.38) or 299 mall membership reward points, with water gun and goggle rentals included, making summer fun both affordable and accessible.
Zhenru Unipark Max has also announced plans to focus on younger shoppers by offering nightlife experiences that blend music, sports, and art, further energizing the area's nighttime economy.
According to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Zhenru Unipark Max played a key role in driving the area's retail growth into the top three in June. It's quickly emerging as a new engine of consumption in Shanghai.
Last year, the mall helped the Zhenru area achieve the second-highest number of new flagship stores in the city, including Longines, the Trek cycling concept store, and Mont-bell's first Putuo location. This momentum carried into early 2025 with the addition of 25 new premium brands, such as lululemon and gaga, featuring three national firsts, one city debut, and 10 regional firsts.
