Coffee has long been one of Shanghai's most defining symbols of urban life. According to the 2025 China Urban Coffee Development Report, the country's coffee industry reached a market size of 313.3 billion yuan ($43.98 billion) last year, up 18.1 percent year-on-year, with per capita consumption rising to 22 cups annually. Unsurprisingly, Shanghai tops the nation in coffee consumption, a reflection of its thriving cafe culture.

A highlight in Huangpu district's coffee calendar, this year's fair continues to emphasize professionalism and quality. The spotlight is on premium beans from world-renowned coffee regions, offering visitors a chance to discover what makes an exceptional cup.

Exhibitors from Africa, the Americas, and Asia have brought their finest beans to Shanghai. Guests can taste the bright fruit acidity of Ethiopia's Yirgacheffe, the balanced nuttiness of Colombian coffee, the deep herbal tones of Sumatra Mandheling, and the rich yet smooth notes of Arabica from Pu'er, Yunnan, known for its "strong but not bitter, fragrant but not harsh" character.

For those eager to get hands-on, the fair also features a hand-brewing challenge, where coffee lovers can register on-site to showcase their pour-over skills. In the interactive zone, professional baristas will demonstrate brewing techniques and teach participants to craft delicate latte art, turning every cup into a small masterpiece.
