Zhangyuan marks Chinese New Year with multi-week special event
Zhangyuan launched a Chinese New Year special event on Feb 8, introducing a series of themed activities across its historic Shikumen neighborhood in downtown Shanghai.
One of the main indoor activities will run from Feb 14 to March 8 at Building W4, where fine jewelry brand V MUSE will present Echoes of Inspiration, a limited-time high jewelry exhibition. The exhibition will feature newly launched high jewelry pieces alongside selected works from the brand's collection, offering insight into its design philosophy and aesthetic direction. It is made possible by the Zhangyuan Dedicated Bonded Warehouse, which allows high-value jewelry to be stored and displayed on site under bonded conditions during the exhibition period.
Outdoor activities are scheduled from Feb 15 to 23 through a collaboration between Lego and Zhangyuan. Large installations inspired by traditional Chinese New Year imagery, including dragon dances, horses, and other auspicious figures, will line North Maoming Road. During this period, a Lego Chinese New Year pop-up store will also open at Building W5, featuring the Year of the Horse limited products planned for release in 2026.
Evening programs are part of the Chinese New Year special event as Zhangyuan joins the fourth Shining Shanghai Jing'an International Light Festival. From Feb 15 to 23, light displays will operate daily from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Laser and projection works will appear on historic buildings throughout Zhangyuan, including a display inspired by Xu Beihong's Galloping Horse paintings. Illuminated installations along North Maoming Road will further extend the festive atmosphere into the surrounding streets.
