The Mediterranean Festival on the Bund will run from April 15 to 26 at Waitanyuan in Huangpu district.

The festival will bring together cultures and flavors from across the Mediterranean, offering visitors in Shanghai an accessible way to experience the region's culinary traditions and lifestyle. Italian handmade pasta will be served with olive oil and rich sauces, highlighting the country's regional cooking. Greek wine, paired with soft sheep's milk cheese, reflects the produce and climate of the Aegean region. Moroccan stalls will present aromatic spices and traditional handcrafted leather goods, evoking the atmosphere of traditional markets in Marrakech. Spanish paella will also be available, alongside flamenco performances that add a strong visual element to the experience.

Beyond food, the festival will create a relaxed, immersive setting. During the day, Yuanmingyuan Road will be decorated with flowers and lemons, forming a themed streetscape inspired by southern European coastal towns. In the evening, a series of live performances will take place, including music and folk shows that highlight different Mediterranean traditions. The open-air setting is designed to accommodate visitors of all ages, making it suitable for families as well as individuals.

Additional street performances will be staged at intervals on Saturdays and Sundays. Clowns will interact with the crowd through spontaneous appearances and simple comedic routines, while stilt walkers will move through the venue, adding a theatrical element to the public space.
