Panlong Floating Market, Shanghai's first waterborne market, has gone viral on social media after opening at Panlong Tiandi in Qingpu district.

Visitors can not only shop from kayaks but also experience the lively atmosphere of traditional Jiangnan markets once known for trading fabric, fish, and rice, creating a new leisure and consumption experience.

Panlong Tiandi has evolved from a renovated ancient town into a popular weekend getaway for residents across the Yangtze River Delta region. Blending classic Jiangnan charm with modern trends, it has become one of Qingpu's standout cultural tourism destinations.

The newly launched floating market is part of the "Jiangnan Seasons" special event celebrating the third anniversary of Panlong Tiandi's opening. Making use of the area's distinctive water town layout, the market features 10 themed boat stalls that combine retail, canal scenery, and waterfront views. The lively and immersive setting offers intangible cultural heritage crafts, creative products, and lifestyle goods.

Visitors can paddle through the waterways by kayak while shopping, or stroll along the riverbank to enjoy the picturesque surroundings at a slower pace.

This year's Jiangnan Seasons event, centered on the Panlong Floating Market, will run through June 7.
