L'Artisan Parfumeur, the French fragrance house, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with a series of global events across Shanghai, Paris, and Dubai.

As the first stop of this worldwide celebration, the brand has launched a pop-up store on Julu Road in Shanghai's Jing'an district on May 14.

Running until May 31, the store transports visitors back in time to the brand's first boutique on Rue de Grenelle in Paris in 1978. It revives founder Jean Laporte's vision of freedom, creativity, and timelessness, inviting guests to experience the French art of perfumery.

The exhibition showcases a curated selection of historical treasures from the brand's archives, including a classic bottle of its first fragrance. Rare archival footage of Jean Laporte crafting perfumes adds an immersive touch, bringing the lively spirit of the legendary boutique back to life.

Inside the recreated vintage setting, guests can explore the perfume workshop behind the original boutique, the birthplace of the brand's signature home fragrance, Pot Pourri.

To honor this heritage, L'Artisan Parfumeur partnered with Hu Bingqing, a third-generation artisan of Longquan celadon, a traditional Chinese green-glazed porcelain, to reinterpret this classic creation. Drawing inspiration from Jean Laporte's favorite flower, the dahlia, Hu used traditional family porcelain techniques to design an elegant vessel infused with an Eastern aesthetic.

This cross-cultural collaboration blends Eastern artistic restraint with the elegance of a French garden, celebrating craftsmanship, memory, and renewal through a dialogue between tradition and contemporary art.

The choice of Jing'an as the first stop of the global anniversary celebration highlights the rapid growth of the district's debut economy. As a premier destination for international luxury brands entering the Chinese market, the West Nanjing Road shopping area continues to attract global brands with its rich commercial heritage and international outlook.
