Huangpu unveils Summer Fantasy Night experiences
This summer, Huangpu district will launch Summer Fantasy Night as part of the citywide Shanghai Tonight initiative.
Running from July 3 to Aug 30, the program will connect two main destinations: the Summer Yu-niverse garden fair at Yuyuan Garden Malls and the Wonderland Carnival at Bund Finance Center.
Three themed corridors connect the two destinations
Three curated walking routes will guide visitors between the two venues.
The Bund riverside walkway serves as the opening chapter of the journey. Middle Fangbang Road features playful bear-themed installations and interactive surprises, while lighting installations along Fuyou Road create a layered, dreamlike environment.
Together, the three routes weave together the city's historic and modern areas into a seamless journey.
Yuyuan Garden Malls: Summer Yu-niverse
Yuyuan Garden Malls will host the Summer Yu-niverse garden fair from July 3 to Aug 23.
Drawing on Chinese cultural motifs, intangible cultural heritage elements, and locally developed creative content, the commercial area will be transformed into an immersive setting where traditional aesthetics meet contemporary storytelling.
Visitors can explore streets featuring themed installations and interactive experiences.
BFC: Wonderland Carnival
From July 3 to Aug 30, BFC will present the Wonderland Carnival, featuring rotating themed activities, art installations, family activities, and brand pop-ups. Highlights include:
Butterbear Shanghai debut and meet-and-greet
The Butterbear baking-themed exhibition will open on July 3, marking the character's Shanghai debut.
The exhibition will span both indoor and outdoor spaces, featuring a doughnut-themed entrance and photo spot on Fengjing Road, an immersive elevator installation, and a giant rooftop display overlooking the Bund.
A total of 32 Butterbear installations will appear along Fengjing Road on July 3. From July 4, the installations will be displayed on the fifth-floor rooftop and along streets facing the Bund.
On July 5, BFC will host its first Butterbear meet-and-greet. Butterbear will appear alongside her sister Bianca, who will be making her Chinese mainland debut.
Pop-up bakery, dessert shop, and dessert market
The Butterbear-themed pop-up bakery will run from July 3 to Aug 16 in the south zone atrium, offering more than 50 baked items.
A collaboration with dessert brand Xuxia will also bring China's first Butterbear-themed dessert store to the third floor of the south zone.
From July 4 to 12, a Butterbear dessert market will take place over two consecutive weekends, bringing together more than 80 domestic and international dessert brands and featuring a dedicated Butterbear zone.
Summer water park and DJ party
Ahead of the Wonderland Carnival, the 1,000-square-meter summer water park returned to BFC North Plaza on June 19 with upgraded water activities, family-friendly experiences, performances, and nighttime entertainment.
On July 3, a DJ party will take over the water park, with live sets transforming the space into an open-air nightlife venue along the Bund.
