The 2026 FIFA World Cup is now in full swing, and Shanghai is joining the action with soccer-themed events under the Global Taste in Shanghai 2026 campaign.

From 24-hour sports bars and outdoor screenings to family games and FIFA-licensed pop-ups, the city is turning match days into a mix of food, entertainment and shared fan experiences.

A 24-hour soccer hub in Jing'an

One of the most active examples is CAGES on Jiangning Road in Jing'an district. CAGES has fully embraced the World Cup atmosphere with immersive decorations and nonstop programming.

During the tournament, the restaurant is hosting interactive games, including foosball matches and beer-drinking challenges. These one-on-one competitions quickly energize the crowd and encourage guests to join in the fun rather than passively watch the matches.

Food is also central to the experience. Special match-viewing set meals have been introduced to suit the late-night schedule, offering simple and convenient options tailored for the dense run of overnight fixtures. To accommodate the World Cup schedule, the restaurant is operating around the clock throughout the tournament and is often packed during overnight hours.
