China Eastern Airlines expands in-flight Wi-Fi service
Starting Jan 1, China Eastern Airlines will expand its free Wi-Fi service, allowing passengers on all domestic wide-body flights, excluding routes to Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, to enjoy complimentary connectivity.
This move marks a major upgrade of the airline's in-flight Wi-Fi offering, which previously covered only its premium "Shuttle Service" routes.
The standard Wi-Fi service available to economy class passengers is designed to meet essential online needs, such as sending WeChat messages, browsing web pages, and checking emails.
For bandwidth-intensive activities like video calls, streaming, or online gaming, passengers may opt for paid upgrade packages. In addition, the airline has streamlined the login process through an "auto-prompt authentication page", eliminating the need to manually enter a URL.
China Eastern Airlines was the first domestic carrier to provide in-flight Wi-Fi throughout the flight. This latest expansion represents a further breakthrough in both service scope and coverage.
