Shanghai expands air-rail integrated service
China Eastern Airlines, in partnership with China Railway Shanghai Group, has launched an integrated air-rail service that allows passengers to check in for flights and drop off luggage at selected high-speed railway stations.
Launched on Jan 27, the new service is initially available at Hangzhou East Railway Station and Ningbo Railway Station in Shanghai's neighboring Zhejiang province.
Hangzhou East Railway Station and Ningbo Railway Station are under the jurisdiction of the China Railway Shanghai Group.
Passengers departing from the two stations to Shanghai Pudong International Airport or Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport can collect their boarding passes and check in luggage directly at the railway stations when flying with China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines. Checked baggage can then be claimed at the final flight destination.
The service can be booked in advance through the China Eastern Airlines app or its WeChat mini-program.
With the Spring Festival travel rush around the corner, the service will be extended to additional high-speed railway stations in major Yangtze River Delta cities.
