China Railway started offering off-peak weekday ticket discounts for senior passengers from May 15.

The policy applies to passengers aged 60 and above who purchase tickets using valid identification documents, including Foreign Permanent Resident ID Cards.

Eligible passengers buying tickets online or offline can enjoy a 10 percent discount on selected high-speed train services departing during off-peak weekday hours from May 29 to June 30. Off-peak weekday hours are defined as noon Monday to noon Friday, excluding the Dragon Boat Festival travel period, from June 18 to June 22.

Discounted train services will be marked with the Chinese character "敬" (meaning respect) on the 12306 platform, while discounted tickets will display "长者优惠" (meaning senior discount) in the order details and on the ticket page.

Additionally, senior railway members who complete their journeys will receive triple loyalty points under the railway membership program, which can be used to redeem train tickets or upgrade seats.
