Shanghai is set to dazzle residents and visitors alike with the first-ever Shanghai International Light Festival from Sept 19 to Oct 18.
The festival will take place across several key locations, particularly in Huangpu district, which will highlight important landmarks along the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek.
A centerpiece of the festival will be staged at the historic Shanghai Guangming High School, where the audience can enjoy a captivating drama that embodies the very spirit of Shanghai. The event will also feature creative workshops run by young artists, all centered around "illuminating dreams".

Another significant venue, the Old City Hall, holds a special place in Shanghai's history as the site where the city's first national flag was raised.
During the festival, this iconic building will host a great fusion of lights, music and interactive performances – taking audiences on a journey through Shanghai's evolution from its glorious past to its modern vibrancy.
The Guanglu Building, a prominent structure along Suzhou Creek, will present enchanting light shows inspired by the creek and cherry blossom valleys, creating a dreamy, magical atmosphere for all who attend.
