The ongoing 2025 Shanghai Summer International Consumption Season is set to hit new heights this fall as the 2025 FISE, the world-renowned extreme sports tour from France, makes its highly anticipated return.

FISE stands for Festival International des Sports Extremes, a body that was founded in 1997 in France to unite various action sports under one electrifying event — including freestyle BMX, skateboarding and more.

The Shanghai stop will be staged on Oct 16-19, following the launch of the FISE urban sports carnival on Sept 10 at the city's West Bund.

This year's FISE comes with a major upgrade. For the first time outside Europe, the festival will feature its signature spine ramp showdown — a hair-raising aerial ramp built for heart-stopping urban sports like freestyle BMX and skateboarding — which is a crowd favorite from the city of Montpellier in southern France.

Athletes in freestyle BMX, inline skating, freestyle scootering and skateboarding will go head-to-head on the ramp, pulling off gravity-defying stunts in a competition built for spectacle.

Adding to the excitement, Shanghai will also stage an innovative open climbing tournament, breaking away from the traditional International Federation of Sport Climbing format. With experimental routes and bold wall designs, the event captures FISE's spirit of pushing the boundaries.

In another first, FISE Shanghai will introduce night sessions, blending high-energy competition with a carnival atmosphere that spills into the city's nightlife.

With food, music and immersive experiences, the event aims to channel our passion for sports into galvanized consumer vitality, echoing Shanghai's mantra: "The later the night, the brighter the city".

The 2025 edition has already drawn nearly 100 elite athletes from around the globe. Confirmed competitors include:

  • Jose Torres Gil (Argentina): BMX freestyle Olympic gold medalist at Paris 2024
  • Kevin Peraza Garcia (USA/Mexico): Multiple-time medalist at FISE, X Games and Simple Session
  • Natalya Diehm (Australia): The country's first Olympic BMX freestyle medalist
  • Sasha Pardoe (UK): 19-year-old prodigy and reigning European BMX freestyle champion
