Shanghai's Jing'an district is set to host the "Shining Jing'an Light Shopping Show" from May 1 to 11, as part of the third "Shining Shanghai Light Up Jing'an" light festival.

The event, organized by the district's landscaping and city appearance bureau, will transform the West Nanjing Road-Jing'an Temple business circle and the Suzhou Creek-Suhewan waterfront area into a spectacle of light and sound.

The daily shows, running from 6 pm to 10 pm, promise a blend of light projections, illuminated displays, and music performances, integrating art, cultural experiences, and shopping. The Suzhou Creek waterfront area will feature new immersive light installations aimed at creating a magical and immersive atmosphere.

The"Shining Shanghai Light Up Jing'an" lighting festival has been running weekly since the beginning of March, showcasing digital art inspired by the region's history and culture. The waterfront has been transformed into what the organizers describe as a "romantic outdoor cinema".

The May edition will feature several key attractions:

Following previous tributes to artists such as Wu Changshuo and Liu Haisu in February, and works inspired by Wen Zhengming, Shen Zhou, Zhao Fu, and Ma Yuan from March to April, this month's installation will project the artwork of Xu Beihong, a master of Chinese realism. His works will be re-imagined using artificial intelligence, fusing traditional Chinese brushstrokes with Western watercolor techniques.
