Huangpu extends nighttime offerings with nearly 60 events
As part of the citywide "Shanghai Tonight" campaign, Huangpu district is offering nearly 60 nighttime events and experiences from June through late September, covering seven themes: night shopping, dining, sightseeing, entertainment, performances, reading, and sports.
In the Grand Yuyuan area, the Summer Fantasy Night program offers a wide range of nighttime experiences. Yuyuan Garden Malls blends the area's historic architecture with contemporary cultural elements, while Yuyuan Old Street features themed decorations inspired by popular Chinese animated series. Time-honored brands, including Ningbo Tangtuan, Shanghai Classical Restaurant, and Lu Bo Lang, also offer themed dining settings, collaborative dishes, and set menus.
Nighttime attractions are also growing around Fuxing Park and Sinan Mansions. Starting June 25, a free sightseeing shuttle connects Fuxing Park to nearby dining, shopping, and leisure areas. A popular photo spot now features an interactive piano with light effects, while the amusement park at Fuxing Park, which opened on Aug 7, offers nighttime rides and interactive experiences.
Beyond these landmark destinations, nighttime activities are expanding across Huangpu's commercial areas and neighborhoods. At The Central, the "Happy Summer Night" event runs through Aug 30, featuring live performances, a creative market, craft beer, and specialty snacks. A Shanghai-based fusion band will perform on Aug 14 and 21, blending Chinese musical elements with electronic, rock, pop, R&B, and funk.
On Liuhe Road, Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and Show Life are jointly presenting a cultural market featuring performances and interactive experiences. Meanwhile, Xintiandi is hosting "Food Talks at Xintiandi", which highlights Italian dining culture and experiences.
Businesses are also staying open later. More than 40 shops along Nanjing Road, such as Shao Wan Sheng, Zhen Laodafang, and Dao Xiang Cun, have extended their operating hours, giving visitors more options for evening shopping and dining.
On top of all these measures, Huangpu is further enhancing the nighttime experience by making evening visits more convenient, particularly for international visitors. Major shopping malls now offer parking discounts, while key commercial areas are improving services such as international card payments, tax refund options, and multilingual support.
