Shanghai unveils key fitness targets in 2025

On Feb 28, the Shanghai Administration of Sport released the Key Points for Shanghai's Fitness-for-All Initiative 2025. The document outlined the following main objectives:
By the end of 2025, Shanghai will:
- construct 30 new community sports and fitness centers;
- construct or renovate 70 public fitness trails, 500 smart community fitness corners, 58 workplace fitness stations, 130 public sports courts (including 100 badminton courts), and 20 senior health and fitness centers;
- ensure sports and fitness centers are available in all subdistricts and towns.
The city will also host the 2025 Shanghai Urban Amateur League, tailored to the specific needs of different groups, including children and adolescents, working people, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, women, farmers, military personnel, and foreign residents.
A new round of sports subsidy vouchers will be launched as part of the 2025 Active Shanghai Sports Voucher Issuance Program. As part of the program, the "Shanghai Sports | Fitness Map" information platform will be updated, with over 800 designated venues recruited to take part in the sports voucher initiative throughout the year.
